Tracking scattered showers and fog overnight

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Breezy early with patchy fog developing overnight. Lows in the upper 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with showers thinning out. Rain exits east by late afternoon, but clouds stick around into Friday night. Highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

EXTENDED: We have had right around an inch in Columbia and Jefferson City in the last 24 hours, with another 0.25" to 0.5" possible through early tomorrow afternoon as this low pressure continues to spin over the region. Clouds hang on overnight with scattered showers, and we remain in the upper 40s to start Friday. We'll also have patchy fog to contend with through late morning. By about midday, rain begins to work its way east out of Mid-MO, with showers exiting completely in time for the evening commute. Football fields will be soggy, and it will be breezy in the wake of this system so warmer layers will be needed. We finally clear things out on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures getting back into the upper 50s to around 60, and it's looking seasonably cool and clear for trick-or-treating Sunday night. Clouds roll back in Monday ahead of a weaker disturbance moving in from the north Monday night into Tuesday that could bring a chance of light precipitation - looking at rain with this round but highs only reach about 50 to start off next week. Lows fall into the upper 30s Monday night and stay there through Wednesday night before another late-week disturbance clips the area from the north. That will bring even cooler air in by Friday evening and perhaps a few showers, but the big takeaway will be the potential for frost next week, especially Thursday and Saturday mornings. The best shot at seeing that develop will be across the northern half of the area, but we'll continue to monitor trends closely.
