Tracking scattered storms early, another round tomorrow
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered storms diminishing after sunset. Lows in the mid-60s.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy with highs near 80. Scattered showers and storms developing once again toward afternoon, bringing brief heavy downpours and lightning into the evening.
EXTENDED: Scattered showers and thunderstorms have developed across the state in response to a disturbance sliding in along the edge of high pressure. No severe weather is expected with these, but there could be some brief heavy downpours and lightning into this evening. Storms begin to diminish in coverage after sunset as we lose daytime heating. Tomorrow starts off generally dry with patchy clouds, and a similar afternoon pattern sets up. Temperatures reach the low 80s with scattered showers and storms developing by afternoon into the evening. We'll be dodging some of these at high school football on Friday. A cold front moves through the area on Saturday into Sunday, bringing our best shot at widespread rain for the region. Temperatures remain in the upper 70s with the best chance of rain after about midday through Saturday night. Prepare for rain at Mizzou tailgates! A few showers linger into Sunday, clearing out by evening. Low pressure just to our east next week keeps temperatures in the low 70s through mid-week, with a potential warm up by next weekend. Highs could get back into the 80s, but it's looking drier for homecoming on Saturday. Rain amounts through early next week range between 1-1.5".
