Tracking record-territory heat

MONDAY: We’ll start off comfortable this morning but quickly jump back into warm weather to start the week off. Plenty of sunshine and a breezy southwest wind will help get us into the low 90’s this afternoon. The record high in Columbia is 93, which has a chance to fall.

TONIGHT: Things settle down a little more overnight with temperatures falling into the low 60’s as that wind backs off.

EXTENDED: We’ll keep the sunshine around but the wind backs off tomorrow. The end result is a hot day without that breeze keeping things mixed up during the afternoon as highs top out in the low 90’s again. Wednesday is where the forecast starts to get murky. The ridge that’s building on top of us will try to move east. As it does, rain chances will start to increase with a few disturbances moving through. It’s still a bit unclear how far east these rain chances will get Wednesday through Friday. The threat of rain will stick around into the weekend, with highs gradually cooling throughout the week, getting into the upper 70’s and low 80’s by Saturday and Sunday.
