Tracking a few showers tonight, beautiful start to the weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few showers moving in around sunset. Rain moves from north to south, clearing the area shortly after midnight. Lows in the lower 50s.

TOMORROW: Clouds exit by daybreak, leaving us with a bright start to the weekend with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s.

EXTENDED: Clouds have filtered in across the area ahead of a cold front that will bring light showers to mid-Missouri by this evening. Showers move from north to south through the night, exiting most areas before daybreak. High school football should stay dry for most cities south of I-70, but there could be some sprinkles for points north during the games. It definitely won't be a wash out, but be prepared for some brief light rain. Clouds clear out overnight into Saturday morning as the cold front moves south of us and winds shift to the northwest. It's a gorgeous start to the weekend with highs in the mid-upper 70s. Winds take a dramatic shift south/southwest aloft by Sunday, sending temperatures about 10 degrees warmer into the upper 80s. We stay above our temperature average for this time of year all through next week with highs near 90 on Monday and Tuesday. By mid-late week some of the forecast models are hinting at a few disturbances trying to send cooler air and rain chances our way, but it doesn't look like a dramatic shift at this point. Temperatures remain in the mid-80s through next Thursday and Friday.
