Tracking heat and a few showers today

TODAY: Cool to start in the low 60s. Patchy fog is possible before sunrise. Summer-like heat is on the way this afternoon with highs in the upper 80s. A cold front will move close to the area this evening and potentially bring showers to counties north of I-70. Watch out for a stray shower if you're headed out to watch some Friday night football.

TOMORROW: Sunny and hot with highs around 90 degrees. More moisture will move in and push the heat index up to the low 90s.

EXTENDED: Southeastern Missouri could see showers each afternoon this weekend but these should dodge our area. Hot conditions will last through Monday before a cold front arrives for the beginning of fall. Showers and storms will roll through on Tuesday and this sends highs to the low 80s/upper 70s the rest of the week.
