Tracking afternoon showers and storms with falling temperatures

Today: Showers and storms begin to develop just south of I-70 this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. These scattered showers and storms will begin to become more widespread with chances of brief downpours and lightning possible. Most areas north of I-70 should remain dry, but southern counties will see increased chances for rainfall.

Tonight: Storms begin to lose their strength after sundown and linger into scattered showers. The overnight low drops to 63 as winds shift from the southwest to the northwest. Wind gust up to 25 mph can be possible with these showers and storms so make sure trash cans and other outdoor furniture is strapped down.

Extended: Showers and storms begin to push to the southeast by mid-morning allowing for cloud cover to dissipate as the day goes on with a high of 83. Thursday, temperatures begin to increase once again weel above average as winds quickly shift back from the south. We will see mostly clear sky conditions heading into the weekend with temperatures topping out into the lower '90s once again.
