Tracking an incoming cold front and evening showers

Today: Temperatures will continue to increase with southerly flowing winds up to 92 degrees. Mid-Missouri will continue to see mostly clear skies with clouds increasing throughout later this afternoon.

Tonight: Scattered showers and storms will begin to develop late this afternoon into the early hours of the evening as an approaching old front makes its way towards Central Missouri. Most areas north of I-70 will not see these showers and storms, but as moisture increases in the upper atmosphere, these showers and storms become more prevalent as they move towards I-44. The biggest threat for these showers and storms will be brief downpours and some lightning. These storms will push out tonight with the cloud cover allowing for our overnight low to dip back into the upper '50s.

Extended: We will see near-average temperatures in the lower '80s on Wednesday and Thursday thanks to the incoming cold front. Mostly clear sky conditions are expected throughout the remainder of the week as temperatures increase to just above 91 degrees on Saturday.
