Tracking another sultry afternoon

rooting on rain
KMIZ

THURSDAY: Hot and humid again. Highs will work their way towards the upper 90’s with the heat index returning to the middle 100’s. An isolated storm or two is possible after 3 PM bringing some much-deserved relief but won’t be for everyone. Anything that does get up and going will fizzle after sunset.

TONIGHT: We’re tracking a complex to our north overnight that might be able to clip northeast parts of the state. Timing looks to be after midnight and should be out of here by the morning commute. Lows will fall into the middle 70’s.

EXTENDED: Our ridge that’s kept the heat going all week will start to shuffle eastward into this weekend. That will take the hottest weather with it, but it will be a gradual process. Friday we’re still in the mid to upper 90’s, stepping down into the low 90’s by Sunday. As that slides east, our next weather maker takes its place, bringing a frontal boundary into the area. Showers and storms look possible Sunday evening into Monday. Another possible disturbance could give us another round of storms Monday night. Highs for most of next week look to stay in the upper 80’s.
