Tracking another sweltery afternoon

making a run
KMIZ

WEDNESDAY: We’re roasting again this afternoon. With a pattern like this, our only hope during the hottest parts of the day would be some showers and storms to cool us off. Those look like they’ll stay north of us, but might throw us some clouds. Highs will still top out in the upper 90’s with a heat index in the 105 neighborhood.

TONIGHT: Those clouds move out tonight leaving us mostly clear. Lows still only cool off into the middle 70’s.

EXTENDED: Another warm start leads to another warm afternoon. Highs will top out in the upper 90’s but we could get some relief in the afternoon. A few isolated showers and storms look possible Thursday, but won’t be for everyone. The heat will slowly start to back off Friday, with highs in the middle 90’s. That will be a trend into the weekend, with highs back to the low 90’s Saturday and Sunday. We’re tracking our next front still slated to move in Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing our best shot at rain in over a week. Next week looks pretty seasonal, with highs in the upper 80’s behind that front.
