Tracking the return of hot weather to Mid-Missouri

heating up this week
KMIZ

MONDAY: More hot and humid weather is setting up to send folks back to school. Temperatures look to warm into the middle 90’s with a heat index in the triple digits pretty easily, so send those kids back to school with a little more water. We have a chance to pick up some isolated showers and storms, especially east of HWY 63. Most of us look to stay dry, however.

TONIGHT: We’ll be looking mostly clear tonight but unable to cool off as much as we’d like. A light southerly breeze will help keep lows propped up in the middle 70’s.

EXTENDED: It’ll be more of the same much of this week. Temperatures will top out in the mid to some upper 90’s, with a heat index past 100 through Thursday. We’ll see just about a daily shot at picking up one or two showers but those will need to be refined each day. Plan on the heat, hope for a shower. Our ridge responsible for the heat will try to slide east by Friday and Saturday. We’ll likely stay above average by then, but not as oppressive, with highs in the low 90’s. Our next organized shot at rain moves in Sunday.
