Tracking dangerous heat for the next several days

Tonight: Winds shift out of the southeast allowing for warm and moist air from the gulf to make its way towards Central Missouri. Mid Missouri will see an overnight low of 72 degrees with mostly clear skies.

Tomorrow: The ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day due to dangerous temperatures Monday. Temperatures will dramatically increase to a high of 95 degrees with the heat index surpassing 100 degrees nearing 104. Central Missouri will continue to see southerly flowing winds at the surface paired with mostly clear skies with a slight chance for afternoon isolated pop-up storms.

Extended: These dangerous temperatures will stay with us until Thursday night. We can expect to see highs in the mid-'90s and the heat index just above 100. Winds continue out of the south as a high-pressure system slowly passes to the east overhead. Thursday afternoon through Sunday, chances for scattered storms increases with the warm and moist air pulled from our south. The greatest threats for these storms will be possible isolated flash flooding events and lightning.
