Tracking prolonged uncomfortable heat and humidity

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a spot shower or storm north of I-70. Lows in the mid-upper 70s.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly sunny and hot with highs in the mid-90s. Heat index between 105-110.

There are some showers trying to get going south of I-70 in Kansas, but I don't think we're going to see much more on the severe storm front given the trends. Where it has not been raining today it has reached the 100-105 range so far with the top reading of 108 at the Lake of the Ozarks. With showers and storms exiting, we're in for a muggy night with lows staying in the upper 70s. The heat and humidity will likely be as bad as yesterday on Wednesday with heat indices between 105-110, and any storms likely holding off until evening when we can break through an elevated warm layer that will keep development at bay during the day. Any storms that do get going could be marginally severe, especially north of I-70. Thursday marks the last day of triple-digit heat indices as temperatures get into the mid-90s with those feels like temps in the 100-105 degree range as a heat advisory continues for the entire state until Thursday night. A front tracks slowly through the area Thursday night through Friday, bringing a chance for scattered showers and storms and highs back down into the upper 80s on Friday. Once the front clears the area, we're in for a very pleasant weekend as rain clears out and temperatures only make it to the mid-80s during the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
