Tracking the return of rain chances

grab the umbrella
KMIZ

THURSDAY: Isolated showers and storms will be possible throughout the day. We’re not expecting anything organized or widespread, but keep the umbrella handy. Highs will top out in the low to mid 80’s.

TONIGHT: The threat of one or two storms will linger into the overnight hours. Temperatures will be a little slower to cool with the extra clouds, bottoming out in the upper 60’s.

EXTENDED: We can’t completely rule out a stray storm Friday afternoon, but most of us look to stay dry. Temperatures will start to warm up as we move toward the weekend. Highs on Friday will make it to near 90, pushing into the low 90’s this weekend. Storms look to return Saturday night, but could spill over into Sunday morning. If the leftover clouds stick around long enough, it could help eat into the heat by the afternoon, otherwise expect a heat index near 100. It looks like we don’t have much of a chance to avoid the heat Monday and Tuesday. Highs will warm a bit more into the middle 90’s, nudging the heat index into the low triple digits. A chance of storms will at least give us hope to avoid the heat by the middle of next week.
