Tracking cooler temperatures and storms this weekend

FRIDAY: This afternoon is hot again with most reaching around 90 degrees. A front is slowly pushing in from the north, cooling temperatures and taking humidity with it. Those south of the front, especially near the Lake, will see highs in the mid-90s and heat indexes in the triple digits.

TONIGHT: A few storms are possible in the southern half of the area late this afternoon and these could bring the threat of high winds and small hail. Showers clear out overnight but we're not done with rain just yet. More storms will fire up in northern Missouri and pass through the area early Saturday morning.

EXTENDED: The weekend kicks off noisily with storms rolling through. Rain becomes isolated during the afternoon and another round of rain is possible by tomorrow evening. The severe threat will stay low but some hail or high winds are still on the table. This front forces moisture out of most of the area by Sunday and next week starts off nicely with highs back in the 80s.
