Tracking strong storms this evening
FRIDAY: A quiet start to the day. A warm front is lifting northward, dragging us back into the muggy air. Highs will push towards 90 with a mix of sun and clouds with humid conditions making things a little uncomfortable.
TONIGHT: Storms look to fire along that warm front this evening. They’ll ignite in Iowa and slide southeast into the viewing area shortly after sundown. EXTENDED: The severe threat will relax tomorrow morning after sunrise but could intensify tomorrow afternoon. Storms may take a break here and there, but the threat doesn’t look to leave us throughout the day Saturday. The second round of strong storms will depend on how well the early morning round works over the atmosphere. An overarching threat with all of this rain will be the flooding, which looks more probable north of I-70. We close the weekend with some scattered showers on Sunday, but should dwindle by Monday and Tuesday. The clouds could keep temperatures in the 70’s to start the week, with the 80’s returning by Tuesday, along with the sun. We’ll be tracking some more rain by the end of next week.
