Tracking dangerous heat with a cool down next week

Today: The ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert today due to the heat index expected to top out at 104 degrees. We remain mostly clear today until we get into the overnight hours where we could see some scattered storms north of I-70.

Tomorrow: Winds shift to the NNE as we see scattered showers and maybe a few light storms throughout the day Saturday. The highs' will cool back into the mid-90's.

Extended: There are scattered chances of rain on Father's Day Sunday with temperatures into the mid-90's once again. Sunday night into Monday morning, an approaching cold front brings strong thunderstorms into the area. This much need rain will continue until mid-morning on Monday. The highs for Monday will only top out in the lower-80's. Tuesday we will be well below average for our temperatures with the high topping out at just below 80.
