Tracking dangerous heat and weekend storms

Today: The ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert Day for today and Friday due to the heat Index surpassing 100. Todays high will top out at 97 degrees with winds out of the southwest. As the day continues, clouds will begin to clear making for a mostly sunny afternoon.

Tomorrow: Temperatures rise near a record breaking high of 99 tomorrow with the heat index increasing near 105 with increased dewpoints. Avoid a long duration of time spent outside as these conditions lead to increased chances of heat related sicknesses. Winds continue out of the southwest with clear skies throughout much of the afternoon. Heading into the overnight hours, a front stalls over central Missouri leading to increase chances of late Friday night into Saturday morning storms and showers. the main threat for these storms will be brief downpours and lightning.

Extended: Father's day Sunday begins with mostly clear skies in the morning, but afternoon scattered thunderstorms develop later in the day. The high creeps to the lower 90's. The start of next week begins with chances of storms and decreasing highs into the lower 80's.
