Tracking a warm weekend, storms Sunday

TODAY: Mostly sunny and warm in the mid to upper 80s. Heat index around 90.

TOMORROW: More clouds, highs a couple degrees cooler in the mid-80s. Expect some isolated showers and storms in the afternoon, with most staying dry.

EXTENDED: Next week kicks off a very summer-like pattern with highs in the low to mid-80s and a chance of storms tied to the afternoon heat each day. Given the lack of forcing aloft, anything that develops will remain sub-severe, but it will move slowly, so we could end up with some pockets of higher rain totals. At the same time, some areas will remain dry the entire time given the nature of showers and storms. We'll have dry time in between rounds, but expect a chance each day during the afternoon through about sunset. By the end of the week, we'll be keeping a close eye on high pressure that could diminish our rain chances and bring temperatures closer to 90 by the end of the weekend.
