Tracking wind and rain for Thursday
THURSDAY: Winds will be picking up this afternoon as a cold front moves through Missouri. Gusts could be as high as 30-40 mph. This front will also try to bring some moisture in and drop rain showers across the area. Most of this will be light and will move through by this evening.
TONIGHT: As showers clear out, we'll begin to see moisture moving in again from the north, which could bring some snow overnight. Most of this precipitation will stay north of I-70 through the evening.
EXTENDED: Our low responsible for all of this will drop south Friday, bringing snow to the area. It looks to move in early in the morning and will keep the snow showers around all day long. The wind-driven snow will reduce visibilities and will start to add up by the afternoon. A pretty widespread inch could blanket mid-Missouri by the time this wraps up late Friday night. A few bands of locally heavier snow look possible, where totals could push into the 2-3” range. Saturday looks dry but pretty dreary with the wind refusing to let up. Wind chills will hover around 20 all day long. We warm up slightly Sunday, but we’re tracking a disturbance that could bring another shot of rain and snow to the viewing area. Temperatures look to recover into the low 40’s next week.
