Tracking our first bout of wintry weather this week

WINTRY MIX

TUESDAY: A wintry mix is expected to move in this morning. Will start out as snow before changing over to a mix of sleet and freezing rain into the early afternoon hours. Limited impacts expected for most of us, but our extreme northwestern counties should expect some slick roads this afternoon. Tempeatures will struggle to warm up much, in the 30’s this afternoon but will get going tonight.

TONIGHT: A steady southeast wind will bump temperatures up into the 40’s overnight, keeping our precipitation liquid. This is good news, because this is the heaviest round slated to fall around mid-Missouri.

EXTENDED: Rain holds into the first part of Wednesday before temperatures slide into the 30’s during the afternoon and evening. That will change what’s left over to some snow with minor accumulations possible. A good chunk of Thursday looks dry but our next system is right around the corner. Another wave will lift through the area Thursday night into Friday. The latest trends are suggesting less snow and more of a wintry mix again as the system looks to be coming in a little further north and west. Still bears tracking over the next few days so stay with us. More info on that will be updated throughout the week over at the Stormtrack Insider Blog.
