Tracking the return of rain chances

showers return

FRIDAY: A frontal boundary is moving through northwest Missouri this morning. That will make it to about HWY 50 by this evening, which will provide enough kick for some spotty showers. Those look like they’ll favor areas south of I-70, and any time after midday. Highs will top out in the low 60’s.

TONIGHT: Those spotty showers will still be possible throughout the overnight hours. Lows will fall into the 40’s, with most of us on the cool side of the front.

EXTENDED: The rain fills in, both in coverage and intensity by tomorrow afternoon. That rain will be heaviest Saturday night into Sunday morning before departing east Sunday afternoon. With plenty of cloud cover and showers around, temperatures might not get back to 50 either day this weekend. Areas south of HWY 50 will pick up the heaviest amounts, pushing 1-2”. The rest of us will be in the 0.25”-0.75” neighborhood. Coming out of the weekend, we’ll be dry Monday with highs near 50. Our next system slides in Monday night into Tuesday. There’s still some questions to answer with this system and how it unfolds. Rain will be possible through Tuesday and could hang on into Wednesday. The unsettled weather looks to move on by Thanksgiving, with some seasonal weather returning.
