Thursday’s near-record heat, reviewing other fall and winter warm spells in mid-Missouri

Today's near-record heat

The official high at Columbia Regional Airport was 84º. This was just shy of the record of 88º set back in 1899. Most of our feels like temperatures were pretty close to this today, though. Hot and steamy weather took off today with a warm front pushing off to the north.

Some parts of Missouri were close to records today.

It was that same warm front that also quite a bit of fog to mid-Missouri last night too.

Other fall and winter warm spells

With winter on fast approach, many of holding onto as many warm thoughts as possible. Here's some hope for warm weather, even in the dead of winter across mid-Missouri.

Even in just the last 20 years, winter has shown it's generous side. Let's also not forget the impressive warmth just last Christmas when COU recorded a balmy 69º!

I guess there was just something about the late-1800s that brought a ton of late-season warmth to the region...
