Tracking isolated damaging winds and high fire danger today

TODAY: A Weather Alert Day is in effect for all of Mid-Missouri for the threat of strong, gusty winds and fire weather conditions. Winds will gust from the southwest up to 45-50 mph at times. Temperatures reach the low to mid-70s with sunshine.

SUNDAY: Winds begin to die down on Saturday night with a strong cold front approaching from the north. Temperatures start out in the 50s early on Sunday, and fall into the low 40s during the day as the front slides south. Scattered showers will be possible by Sunday afternoon.

EXTENDED: The front stays mainly to our south on Monday, but areas south of Highway 50 could see a few showers. Temperatures to start the week will be in the upper 40s to low 50s for highs. The front eventually lifts back north Tuesday and stalls out across Mid-Missouri for most of the week, allowing for continued rain chances, which is much needed around much of the region. Temperatures get back into the mid-upper 60s through most of the week.
