Tracking gusty winds Wednesday, much cooler air late week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool as winds ease. Lows in the upper 40s to around 50.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and breezy. Fire weather conditions possible with dry soils and gusty winds up to 35 mph. Avoid outdoor burning. Highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: Another powerful cold front will plow through the area on Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing much cooler air to end the week. Winds shift to the northwest, and we'll see highs in the upper 50s to around 60 on Thursday and Friday. With winds dying down and expected clear skies, some places may see some patchy frost on Friday morning as temperatures dip into the 30s. Over the weekend, temperatures rebound back into the upper 60s to around 70 on Saturday as winds shift back to the west in the upper levels of the atmosphere. Another strong upper wave will move through the Midwest Sunday, bringing a cold front across the state between Sunday night and Monday. Showers will be possible, but how long rain sticks around will depend on if the front moves south of us on Monday or stalls over Missouri. Either way, we'll be chilly to start off the week with lows in the upper 30s to around 40 and highs in the mid-upper 50s.
