VIDEO: Strong fall front brings gusty winds, dust across the United States

Strong front carried dust hundred of miles

While most of the dust had thinned out by the time it had reached mid-Missouri, enough of it carried that you may notice a thin film of dust and grime on your car today.

Infrared satellite picked up on the thick cloud of dust traveling across the southern Great Plains last night.

This dust is from the extreme drought that has developed across the western United States and like includes smoke and ash particles from the historic wildfire season too.

More strong cold fronts this fall will likely lead to more dust events like this, some of with more dust making a reach towards mid-Missouri.
