Tracking a steamy start to the school year

HOT

MONDAY: It’s going to be another hot one as many head off to school today. Highs will top out in the low to mid 90’s with a heat index in the upper 90’s. One or two of us might pick up a stray shower this afternoon, but most of that will stay south of I-44.

TONIGHT: Things will be quiet overnight under mostly clear skies. Lows will back off into the upper 60’s by daybreak.

EXTENDED: It’s looking hot and humid these next few days. Highs will be similar to today, in the low to mid 90’s feeling like the upper 90’s. Overnight lows will only back off to near 70. Rain chances stay away through Wednesday before the remnants of Laura make it up from the Gulf of Mexico. A lot to still iron out with the exact track, but we could see some impacts in terms of rainfall. An active pattern could be setting up by this weekend and beyond. We might be looking forward to the break from the heat, but we could use the rainfall.
