Tracking a hot end to our week

TODAY: Hot and humid with plenty of sunshine. Highs get into the low 90s with a heat index between 95-96.

TONIGHT: A cold front will remain just to our north in Iowa and northern parts of Illinois. This cold front will move south across Mid-Missouri as we transition into Saturday morning. Latest model runs suggest that the line of storms will weaken as it approaches mid-Missouri, but an isolated stronger thunderstorm isn't out of the question. By the morning, these storms will begin to push out of the area. Our main concern with this system overall will be the opportunity for heavy rainfall to impact parts of the viewing area.

EXTENDED: Saturday will be slightly cooler than today after that cold front slides through. A few more storms are possible Saturday night, but are not expected to become severe. Sunday will see the heat and humidity return full force, and next week remains very warm.
