Gorgeous weekend ahead of bitterly cold air next week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly, lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

SATURDAY: Beautiful and sunny, highs in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: The weekend looks gorgeous as winds turn back out of the south, leaving us with highs in the 50s on both Saturday and Sunday. By Sunday afternoon, clouds begin to build back in ahead of our next cold front that will set the stage for much colder air next week. The cold front sweeps through Sunday night into Monday, bringing the threat of snow showers early Monday morning where temperatures have fallen near or below freezing. Right now, accumulation looks limited to grassy surfaces if snow showers do materialize. A Weather Alert Day is in effect from Monday night into Wednesday morning for the potential of dangerous wind chills in the single digits Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. All of next week stays below average with highs in the 30s and 40s.
