Issues

Coyne, a Columbia businessman who was a late entrant into the race after former House member Chuck Basye dropped out, does not explicitly mention abortion among the issues listed on his website. However, Coyne does say religious liberty is important to him -- a stance often associated with opposition to abortion and to protections for the LGBTQ community.

Coyne has lobbied Jefferson City legislators on religious liberty issues and gun rights. He says if elected he wants to make the legislative process more open, fight "unconstitutional Federal infringement on our right to keep and bear arms" and to cut the size of government.

One of his major economy proposals is to eliminate Missouri's income tax.
