Tracking a hot, humid holiday weekend with storm chances throughout

TODAY: I'm tracking another ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as potentially dangerous heat is possible throughout the rest of the afternoon. Heat index values will most likely reach the 100-degree mark by the mid-afternoon hours, but some areas could get closer to 105. Mostly dry and sunny conditions are expected, but isolated, brief storms will be possible during the peak heat of the day.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly clear conditions overnight. It will remain warm and muggy as temperatures stay in the low 80s until after midnight. A decaying storm complex will be slowly moving in from the northwest overnight, bringing impacts and uncertainty into the forecast for the morning and afternoon for any 4th of July activities.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking this storm complex, most likely moving through most of Mid-Missouri throughout the morning hours, making for a slightly cooler and wetter day. Temperatures will still be expected to warm into the upper 80s by the afternoon hours, with humidity making it feel close to 100 for some. This is why the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will continue throughout the holiday. By the evening hours, dry time can be expected for fireworks and celebrations. Another wave of showers and storms is possible by Sunday morning as another system will be moving in from the northwest. Low rain chances will continue to linger into next week, and slightly cooler conditions will come along with it. It will still be hot nonetheless, as temperatures will be in the upper 80s each afternoon and dewpoints will be in the mid to upper 60s, but it will not be as oppressive as the stretch of weather we have been in.
