Tracking chances for light showers as slightly cooler weather returns

TODAY: I'm tracking a mild start to the day with temperatures in the mid to upper 60s. A wave of light, scattered showers is expected to move in from the north today, taking over regions north of I-70 during the morning hours, passing through Columbia and Jefferson City closer to the lunch/early afternoon hours. Temperatures will get up into the mid-to-upper 70s as winds blow out of the northwest at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a drying trend as sky conditions begin to clear. Winds will be shifting into the west and calming, blowing at 3-6 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking sunshine making a return by the end of Friday morning as temperatures begin in the upper 50s and low 60s across Mid-Missouri. By the afternoon hours, these conditions, paired with light southeasterly winds, will help temperatures warm into the low 80s. By the evening hours, a gradual increase in cloud cover can be expected as spotty showers enter from the west, passing through overnight into early Saturday morning. There will be a lower chance of showers throughout Saturday afternoon as temperatures once again warm into the low 80s, but a better potential arrives overnight into Sunday morning. This more widespread round of showers and storms that is expected to persist throughout Sunday afternoon could make for a soggy Father's Day as temperatures warm into the upper 70s and low 80s. This activity will exit throughout Monday morning, allowing sunshine to gradually return by Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures each afternoon persist in the upper 70s and low 80s.
