Tracking summer heat and storms this weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy, with isolated showers and storms moving in after midnight. These may linger in our southern counties through the early morning commute. Temperatures remain mild in the low 60s.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and muggy, with hot temperatures in the upper 80s. Winds from the south will be noticeable at 5 to 10 mph, with frequent gusts up to 20 mph.

EXTENDED: Scattered showers and storms will return late Friday night and continue through most of Saturday morning, but some dry time is possible in the afternoon, with highs in the upper 80s. More rain is expected Saturday night, but this moves north into Sunday, leaving us dry (but muggy) and warmer near 90 degrees. Widespread rain chances are expected early next week, and we are watching the possibility of a few stronger storms on Monday and Tuesday, with more details in our Insider Blog.
