Tracking a cold morning before warmer air returns alongside rain chances later this week

TODAY: Tuesday will be slightly cooler, starting near freezing for some, and only returning high temperatures to the 50s for most this afternoon. Some light snow showers are ongoing in the north near Macon and Paris this morning. These will dissipate later in the morning, allowing for any accumulations to melt as already above freezing temperatures begin to climb. Most of Tuesday is mostly cloudy, with a light easterly breeze.

TONIGHT: Temperatures remain milder overnight, with south winds gradually returning to the forecast. Skies are also partly to mostly cloudy, which will trap at least some warmth overnight.

EXTENDED: We expect south winds and more breaks in the clouds on Wednesday, allowing for 70s by the afternoon. This warmer air will remain present the rest of the week, despite daily rain chances. Thursday will be mostly dry, but a cold front is approaching by the evening, keeping a low rain chance during the day, and a moderate rain chance overnight as the front settles in. Friday will be the greatest rain chance of the work week as the front sits overhead, driving chances for morning showers and afternoon storms. Over the weekend, the front will try to lift back north, keeping lower rain chances on Saturday. We continue to track chances for thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday.
