Tracking severe storms this afternoon, another severe risk tomorrow evening

THIS AFTERNOON: Highs in the 70s. An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect through 7 PM for the possibility of severe storms in eastern Missouri. Scattered storms will develop directly over places like Moberly, Mexico, Hermann, and possibly Columbia and Jefferson City early this afternoon. All hazards are possible, including high winds up to 60 mph, hailstones greater than 1", and a tornado. The severe risk will clear before sunset as a cold front exits.

TONIGHT: Cloudy and drier tonight, with temperatures falling to the 50s. Winds will be briefly lighter, between 5 and 15 mph.

EXTENDED: Another ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued for Friday night for a risk of all severe hazards. Most of Friday is dry and warm, with highs reaching the 80s. We likely stay clear through the afternoon, but any storms that develop during the day would become severe. A line of storms is expected to move through on Friday evening from west to east along a cold front, and these storms will also carry a risk of all severe hazards. Rain lingers through Saturday morning, with totals for the week ranging between 2 and 5 inches. Flooding will be an underlying threat through the end of the week. Sunshine returns in full swing by Easter, with much cooler temperatures in the 50s this weekend.
