Tracking spring-like weather before chances of impactful wintry precipitation
TODAY: I'm tracking a breezy and sunny afternoon as temperatures warm into the low 70s by the afternoon hours and winds blow out of the southwest at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. These conditions, paired with dry air, will lead to a fire weather warning for much of Central Missouri until the evening hours, so any sort of burning is not advised.
TONIGHT: I'm tracking mostly clear conditions overnight as temperatures quickly drop into the low 40s and winds blow out of the northwest at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a brief round of precipitation possible near noon for Saturday as temperatures warm into the upper 60s by the afternoon hours. Winds will be picking up and shifting back into the south at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph before shifting back into the north by Sunday. Clouds will be entering the area by Sunday morning, with significantly cooler temperatures in the upper 20s for the morning and low 40s for the afternoon. A mix of wintry precipitation will be entering the area during this period of time and persisting overnight through Monday morning, bringing potential travel impacts to some, which is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be in effect for this period of time. Impacts aren't expected to last long, as temperatures warm above freezing by Monday afternoon, and continue to get warmer throughout the rest of next week. Daily rain and storm chances can be expected for this period of time.
