Tracking cooler, but seasonably warm days ahead

TODAY: Tuesday is another warm day, starting even warmer than Monday. However, with north winds, temperatures will only reach the mid-to-upper 50s this afternoon.

TONIGHT: Temperatures are cooler tonight, falling to near freezing amid continued north winds.

EXTENDED: Starting near 30° on Wednesday, temperatures will climb to near 50° by the afternoon under partly cloudy, dry skies. Thursday is very similar in terms of temperatures, but we do have a slight chance of a few showers in the afternoon and evening. Very little precipitation comes with this round, but a better chance for meaningful rain comes on Saturday. Currently, track is still uncertain for a low that passes through the region this weekend, but rain chances for Columbia currently sit around 60%, with greater chances south, and lesser north. If mid-Missouri remains in the forecast path of this system, rain would likely impact plans on Valentine's Day, Saturday. However, as we're on the north side of this system in most scenarios, a shift could make rain miss some or many of us. Highs are forecast in the upper 40s to near 50 on Wednesday and Thursday, but low 50s are now looking possible Friday through the weekend.
