Tracking the return of colder temperatures

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and cold, with highs in the low to mid-30s. Winds from the west will be steady at 5 to 15 mph.

TONIGHT: Clouds fill in overnight, and low temperatures fall to the teens. Wind chills will drop to the low single digits by sunrise tomorrow.

EXTENDED: Thursday is cloudy and dry, with colder temperatures in the 20s. Clouds also linger on Friday, and temperatures continue to drop. An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day goes into effect Saturday morning as lows drop to around zero degrees and wind chills fall below zero. Highs remain in the teens on Saturday, but this round of cold will thankfully be much shorter and drier than our last winter storm. A slow warmup begins Sunday and continues into the middle of next week.
