Tracking sub-zero wind chills and accumulating snow over the weekend
TODAY: I'm tracking temperatures continuing to stay in the single digits throughout the afternoon as winds blow out of the northeast at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. This will lead to wind chills feeling like they are -10 to -20 degrees areawide, which is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect.
TONIGHT: I'm tracking clouds persisting throughout the overnight hours ahead of snow showers that will take over the region by the end of the night. Temperatures will drop close to zero and below-zero areawide as winds continue to blow out of the northeast at 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. This will lead to continued sub-zero wind chills, which is why the ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will continue overnight.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking widespread snow throughout tomorrow morning, lasting into the afternoon hours of Saturday. This will be the first of two rounds of snow expected this weekend, and this round is expected to be "lighter" in terms of accumulations. The second round will arrive late Saturday night into Sunday morning, exiting throughout the afternoon hours of Sunday. This will be the secondary round that brings larger accumulation totals across the area and will lead to widespread impacts. Throughout all of this time, wind chills will continue to stay below zero, and will stay this way throughout Monday morning.
