Tracking extreme cold tonight with below-zero wind chills

TONIGHT: Clouds partially clear overnight, allowing temperatures to drop into the single digits. An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will go into effect at midnight, lasting through noon tomorrow for below-zero wind chills.

TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy, with dangerously low wind chills in the morning. Temperatures manage to climb back to the low 30s in the afternoon with winds out of the southwest. Flurries will be possible throughout the day, but accumulations will be next to zero.

EXTENDED: A cold front will move through the area Sunday night, bringing another round of extreme cold on Monday morning, with wind chills possibly as low as -15°. Wind chills remain in the low single digits during the day on Monday, and we'll be near zero again Monday night. Sunnier skies and southerly winds will finally warm temperatures back to around average by Tuesday, with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s through midweek. The forecast remains active, with precipitation chances returning by Thursday or Friday.
