Tracking a sunnier afternoon and cool temperatures tonight

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and mild, with highs reaching the mid to upper 40s. Winds from the southwest will be steady, possibly gusting up to 20 mph.

TONIGHT: Temperatures drop into the 30s after sunset, approaching freezing as we ring in the new year at midnight. Clouds will start rolling back in late overnight.

EXTENDED: The new year will start cloudy, but sunshine will return tomorrow afternoon with highs in the upper 30s. Some clouds linger through the end of the week with highs back in the 40s over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to warm around ten degrees above average into the 50s early next week as we stay dry.
