Tracking one last day of warmth before storms and a large cooldown
TODAY: I'm tracking dense fog lasting throughout the morning hours before gradually falling apart by the afternoon hours. Clouds will be persistent, but winds from the southeast at 8-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph will help temperatures warm into the low 70s.
TONIGHT: I'm tracking temperatures slowly dropping into the low 60s by the end of the night as scattered showers enter throughout the overnight hours. Winds will be out of the southeast at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking more widespread showers entering throughout the morning hours of Sunday ahead of a cold front. Rumbles of thunder can be expected in the morning hours for areas to the north and west of Columbia. During the afternoon hours, a low potential for these storms to produce strong winds will be seen for areas to the east and south of Columbia. As these storms pass through the area, strong northerly winds at 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph will lead to temperatures rapidly dropping into the low 40s by the afternoon hours. A much colder day can be expected on Monday, as temperatures will be in the teens and feel close to 0 degrees walking out the door. By the afternoon hours, it will only warm into the mid-20s. Dry weather will be expected throughout all of next week as temperatures gradually warm back up into the 30s and 40s.
