Tracking light snow today and frigid weather Sunday morning

TODAY: I'm tracking the potential for freezing drizzle south of I-70 during the morning hours, leading to the potential for slick spots to be present. As this is occurring, snow will be entering northern Missouri, with areas like Macon being the first to see this snow by the late morning hours. This potential for snow will quickly shift south and decrease in coverage through the afternoon hours, so not everyone will see snow. Accumulation is only expected along and north of I-70, with trace amounts to an inch being most likely. Temperatures will be staying below freezing and dropping throughout the day, starting in the low-30s and falling into the teens by sundown as breezy northerly winds at 10-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph are expected.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking temperatures quickly dropping into the single digits overnight, nearing zero degrees for some by the end of the night. Winds will still be breezy out of the north at 10-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph as clouds quickly exit the area.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking this single-digit weather paired with stronger northerly winds leading to temperatures that feel like they are -10 to -15 degrees areawide Sunday morning. This is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be in effect through this period of time. Plenty of sunshine is expected for Sunday, but temperatures are still only expected to warm into the upper-teens by the afternoon hours. Much warmer weather is on the way, as temperatures warm into the low-40s by Monday, low-50s by Tuesday, and upper-50s by Wednesday. Dry weather can be expected Sunday through most of Wednesday before rain chances enter the forecast.
