Tracking dangerously cold wind chills tonight and early Thursday

TONIGHT: Light flurries are possible near and along I-70 through the evening, but accumulations will be light, and no traffic impacts are expected. Temperatures drop quickly overnight following a cold front, with wind chills approaching single digits by midnight. We'll wake up to below-zero wind chills in northern Missouri early Thursday.

TOMORROW: Thursday morning will be dangerously cold, and an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday for wind chills near or below zero. Highs will stay below freezing in the 20s despite more sunshine.

EXTENDED: Highs will rebound to the upper 30s and low 40s on Friday and Saturday, with dry and mostly sunny weather to close the week. We're watching Sunday, as a clipper system looks to track north of the area and could bring some precipitation late in the weekend. Currently, chances of impacts in Mid-Missouri are low, as clippers typically bring quick, light rounds of precipitation. The track of this system would need to shift pretty far south to produce any accumulations here, and that’s a scenario we'll continue to monitor.
