Tracking a cool and clear Halloween

THIS AFTERNOON: Sunny and mild, with highs in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. Clouds start to roll in by late afternoon.

TONIGHT: Cloudy and chilly after sunset, with early evening temperatures in the lower 50s and upper 40s for trick-or-treating. A few sprinkles are possible at the Lake of the Ozarks after 9 p.m., but nearly everyone stays dry.

EXTENDED: Saturday looks mostly cloudy with a spot sprinkle possible during the day as an upper level wave tracks through the region. Only trace amounts of rain are expected. A Freeze Watch is in effect for Saturday night and Sunday morning areawide as low temperatures drop to the lower 30s and upper 20s. But temperatures will already be on a rebound early next week, with highs back in the 60s by Monday and lows in the 40s next week.
