Tracking triple-digit heat over the weekend

TODAY: Mostly sunny and hot with temperatures in the mid-90s and a heat index around 100 degrees. Winds from the south will be light between 5 and 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Clear skies and very warm overnight temperatures with lows in the 70s.

EXTENDED: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect on Saturday and Sunday as the heat index soars above 105 degrees this weekend. Monday may be just as warm and mostly dry, but spot storms are possible in the evening. We'll likely be hot again on Tuesday, with rain holding off until the evening as a cold front moves into the region. Rain chances linger through Wednesday with a cooldown expected for the second half of the week.
