Tracking lingering heat and Wednesday storm chances
TODAY: We're stuck under the heat dome still as heat index values could reach 109 by this afternoon. That puts us under a Weather Alert Day. You can get more from our online blog. Temperatures are forecast to reach low 90s fairly easily this afternoon, but remember it's the dewpoint temperatures reaching the upper 70s that pushes our heat indices way up. Lots of sunshine today, and UV index value look to remain high as well. Any time spent outside should be treated with caution.
TONIGHT: Lows will only dip to the mid 70s, helping us to stay warm overnight and into tomorrow. We'll have a calm evening, with partly cloudy skies and a nice breeze.
EXTENDED: The Weather Alert Day sticks around for Tuesday as heat index values are once again expected to reach near 110. However, there is some relief on the way as a trough dips into our area bringing us some storm chances on Wednesday. A cold front drops through our region, bringing us the gift of highs in the upper 70s beginning Thursday and remaining quite pleasant into the rest of the week. The storms forecasted for Wednesday puts us in a marginal risk, so we will continue to keep an eye on those as they develop.
