Tracking isolated storms and persistent heat to start the week
TONIGHT: I'm tracking scattered storms throughout the rest of the evening, some of which could produce stronger wind gusts. Coverage in storms will diminish through the overnight hours, and temperatures by the end of the night will be in the mid 70s. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10 mph.
TOMORROW: I'm tracking more isolated storms throughout the day, but most will be experiencing dangerous heat as heat index values will near 105 degrees by the afternoon hours. Winds will be out of the southwest at 8-12 mph.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking dangerous heat index values lasting through Monday and Tuesday, which is why an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day will be in effect throughout this period. Wednesday will still be hot, but a cold front will move through during the evening hours. First, this will give central Missouri another shot at storms. Then, it will bring relief from the heat for the rest of the week. Thursday through Saturday, temperatures in the afternoon will only be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
