Tracking scattered rain chances and intense heat
TODAY: Scattered showers and storms are possible north of I-70 early on Sunday, with rain becoming more isolated in the afternoon as heat takes over. Highs will reach the low to mid-90s, with the heat index climbing to 100 to 105 degrees.
TOMORROW: Another round of storms will roll through northern Missouri early Monday before sunrise, with activity dwindling by late morning. The heat index again rises to triple digits, with most areas feeling between 100 and 105 degrees.
EXTENDED: Heat holds strong this week as rain chances drop past Monday morning. ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days will run through Friday as each afternoon faces triple-digit heat, with the potential to exceed 105 degrees. The heat dome responsible for this heat wave will slide east late week, but another heat dome looks to build to our west in the extended forecast, possibly keeping the heat in place beyond the 7-day forecast.
