Tracking dangerous heat and isolated rain chances this weekend

TODAY: High temperatures reach the mid-80s, while humidity pushes the heat index into the mid-90s. Isolated storms are possible in the heat of the day, but nearly everyone will stay dry.

TONIGHT: Storms die down after sunset, and conditions remain warm and muggy overnight, with lows in the mid-70s.

EXTENDED: Scattered showers and storms will sweep through northern Missouri early Saturday, but much of the area remains hot and dry. Afternoon temperatures will reach the mid-90s, with the heat index soaring to 105 degrees or higher. A repeat forecast is expected on Sunday, with limited rain chances up north in the morning and early afternoon, giving way to triple-digit heat in the afternoon. A stretch of ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days continues through Friday of next week as rain chances drop after the weekend and heat holds strong.
