Tracking intense heat lasting through the start of the week

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a warm and breezy night as temperatures drop into the mid 70s while winds blow out of the southwest at 8-12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. Sky conditions will be clear throughout the overnight hours.

TOMORROW: I'm tracking another hot and sunny day as temperatures get into the low 90s by the afternoon hours. Heat index values will be in the upper 90s across the area as winds blow out of the southwest at 15-18 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking heat index values in the upper 90s and low 100s through Tuesday afternoon, which is why a heat advisory is in effect for the entire viewing area from now until Tuesday night. Mostly sunshine will be observed through this period before possibilities of showers and storms begin to creep in, becoming more apparent by Thursday. Slightly cooler temperatures will accompany these chances with a cooling trend lasting into next weekend.
